Swimming finals day 3

Another day of finals. Have to say, not much today, compared to yesterday, this was dull. But going to put out the winners anyway.

Michael PhelpsThis was probably the best race today. When i think of Phelps, i think......IM(fantastic swimmer)......butterfly(also fantastic swimmer)......but free......hmm not sure. Anyway i was thinking he may not get his 8 golds because of this event, 200m freestyle. But he proved me wrong and won it in what seems to be the only way he knows how, to win with a full body length and setting a new world record. He actually could have won the whole thing just by his underwater kick. As soon as everybody dived in, they all surfaced one by one. But Phelps stayed down, he kept going and going, and when he came up, he was already half a body length in front. And at every wall he just extended his lead. The commentators
described him as a freak in the water. YES.....
HE IS THAT GOOD!

Natalie Coughlin

After losing her world record to Kristy Coventry in the heats, she was determine to get revenge. In the 100m backstroke Coughlin took home the gold in a very convincing swim.
She led from start to finish but didn't get back h
er world record time. Conventry on the other hand was far away from the record which she set a day earlier. And came back to finish 2nd.

Aaron Piersol

Criticised for his poor form leading up to the final. He was placed in lane 2 for he was the 3rd slowest qualifier. But it look as seem he was merely saving the best for last as he powered home in world record time. Finally showing the true Piersol. The bronze was shared in this 100m backstroke with 2 swimmers finishing with the same time.

Liesel Jones
After winning a silver in Sydney and bronze in the last Olympics in this event, Liesel Jones was determined to get her gold. With her holding the world record, very few would doubt that she could do it. She finish the 1st 50 of this 100m breastroke 2nd behind teammate Tarnee White. But soon she sprinted home in style but sadly not in world record time. She did however break the Olympic record. So finally a gold for Jones to go together with her bronze and silver.
